Yesterday while I was at work I began thinking to myself, ” This is the last weekend of October and I haven’t dressed up yet?!? HUH??!” I quickly became frantic; I had no plans and no costume. I did have an invitation ,which is a start, but I needed to make it happen and I needed to make a costume of course.
The rest of my shift I pondered ideas of things I could put together quickly. It wasn’t long into my thought process when I remembered I had about 3 yards of purple silk. SCORE!! My favorite Teen Titan wears a purple cape and I have some experience making them so I figured this was the perfect opportunity to start my cosplaying career.

Making this cape was slightly more challenging than making the cape for Escape because I couldn’t locate the pattern, so I had to guestimate where cut lines would be. Unlike the capes I made for the rave this cape needed a hood to help convey my identity. This hood turned out exactly how I wanted it to which is surprising because I have never used a hood pattern. The reason I like it so much is because I discovered that putting a pleat at the base of the neck would give me extra fabric to cast a shadow on my face and cover it when necessary.

The only other thing I needed to make for this costume was a belt. As I was in a pinch for time I could not make an exact replica of Raven’s belt, but it was definitely recognizable. Thankfully my momma is a crafty bitch like me and happened to have gold spray paint laying around, and she was gracious enough to help me out buy painting a strip of sparkly trim while I slaved away. I found some colored gems and painted them red to glue on to the trim, then glued the belt closed while it was on my body ( single use makeshift belt). I used one of those same gems as face jewel, and completed the look with my silver reflective SPACEBOOTS.

Total outfit time- 2.5 hours
Shoutout to Jessy the Joker for inviting me to the 90’s party where we were the only ones in character costumes. LOL
