Can you believe I made this entire dress the day I left for Stagecoach?! okay minus the hook and eye I hand sewed on at our air bnb, but still – I’d say that’s pretty good timing.

I bought the dark denim fabric at Joann’s for cheap, and I found the light colored denim in my fabric drawer; I assume it came out of a scrap fabric bag I got from an old professor.

The bottom of the dress is a skirt I drafted without a pattern. I put one dart in the front and one in the back of the skirt for a better fit. Adding the top was easy; I just decided how much chest I wanted to cover and cut the material accordingly.

The leather straps were a last minute idea. I thought it would be fun to add a third fabric into the mix to create a more dynamic garment, and I think it worked. Making this dress inspired me to create more denim patchwork garments.
