This year I will be attending my first Electric Daisy Carnival and I couldn’t be more thrilled.  I have been wanting to go to this event for about 5 or 6 years now and in just 8 weeks I will finally get the chance to dance my life away under the Electric Sky.  With just under two months until the rave I will need to work my butt off to accomplish everything I want before I head out to Sin City.

Outfit Talk

I have spent the past several months pondering my ideas about what I want to dress up as.  Once I thought I had everything figured out in my head, I began to jot everything down and sketch some of the ideas I wanted to incorporate.  You can see in the picture that my outfits are organized by day, and on the second page I have a shopping list organized by project type.                                   **side note: This year I really hope to improve my sketching abilities.

Saturday Day 2 (Butterfly) –  On the second day of EDC, I will be wearing orange and yellow in the butterfly outfit I make.  These two colors are not usually very cute on me but I really wanted to be dressed bright for at least one day, so I’ll figure out how to make it work.  Originally, I was going to make a bodysuit for this day but the wings need to be tucked into something like a bra or shirt so I made the adjustments.

Friday Day 1 (Dinosaur)- My man Excision is playing night one so accordingly this will be the day I am a dinosaur.  You know that I was not originally supposed to be wearing a bodysuit as a dino but I’m actually really hopeful for the way it is going to look.  I’m also going to be making a sick head piece inspired by something I saw in China Town in San Fran earlier this year.  I really can’t wait for the makeup on this one !!!! It’s hopefully going to be the most dramatic and intense if I can pull it off.

Sunday Day 3 (Alien) – So this third outfit was chosen because my mom is actually taking me home from EDC. Space Mom is playing day three and ideally she will take my mind and soul to a different dimension.  I plan on being a weird little freaky alien and dancing to Rezz’s whole set.  I can’t remember where I got the idea to use clear fabric but I’m so glad my brain went there.  I have the fabric already and have made a backpack out of it, the one that I want to take to EDC but we had some malfunctions with it and it needs to be remade.  With that said, I need to make sure I’m extra careful while making the top and skirt as I don’t want it to tear at all throughout the night.  I also already have the silver fabric I will be making some tiny shorts out of , I think all I need to buy are zippers and pasties for this fit.

After careful consideration and planning of my outfits it was time to make a more detailed shopping list.  I needed to figure out how much of each fabric I needed to complete each project.  This is what I came up with :

Prop Talk

If you have read any of my past blog posts you might know that I love to hand bead!  the proof is in the pudding and here is the pudding.  I plan on making at least one flag for this years EDC, probably for Space Mom but a whole outfit dedicated to her might be too much? I guess we will see! As I stated before I also want to remake that really cool clear backpack so I will be able to find all my things quickly.  In addition to the costume props I’m creating ( which I included in my outfit breakdown..dino headpiece & wings), I am going to try to make something new.. Kandi.. I watched a couple tutorials on how to make cuffs because I think they are so cool and  I really want to make one for each outfit I have along with a matching pearler.  There is just one more thing I really really really want, and I cant make it, it must be purchased.  That thing is a …… PIXEL WHIP!! I fell in love with this really pretty girl who was dancing with one and she looked so good and she inspired me to give people a good show.
