Painting has always been the form of creative expression that I hold closest to my heart. My grandma has a framed poster of my hand prints that I made one summer to keep myself busy; I remember painting it and many other random things that summer. I think that is when I discovered my love for creating and mixing colors.
In college I took many technical theatre classes, a few of which included building and painting sets. One of the classes was dedicated solely on learning to paint sets; We learned techniques to create wood grain, marbling, brick, signs, multicolor wet-blends, drapes, and other classic painting styles. This class also gave me a ton of perspective on how to mix paints to find the perfect complimenting hues.
I was also introduced to color theory and its importance in art during the time I spent in college; that, since then, has been and area that really intrigues me. In an intro painting class I took I learned to paint with oil, something I had never thought to use before. It was awesome, a completely different process that taught me patience and to slow down take time. I learned that I really like painting abstract colorful pieces created by manipulating the oil to create playful texture, or landscapes. Here are some of what my mom has hanging in her home that I created.

Last year I discovered a technique of painting on my own; It’s called fluid painting or fluid pour painting. The technique is in the name, it is a fairly simple to do but unfortunately you don’t get much control over the outcome. Ill show some of my favorite ones I have created below.
And now I am pleased to announce that I have opened up an Etsy shop for my paintings. For now it will be only pour painting but that doesn’t necessarily mean I won’t be open for commissioned oil paintings in the future. The name of my shop you ask ??! It’s ” Pour Little Dread Head” If you like my work but don’t see a painting that works for you I’m more than happy to make something for you specifically, kindly contact me via any social media.
